Household products containing toxic chemicals like pesticide, oil-based paint, weed killers, auto batteries, anti-freeze, and some home cleaners, can be a threat to the environment if improperly discarded. Never throw away these items in the trash. They could harm the highway workers or result in fires in the collection vehicles. It is also not safe to pour these items down your drain or sewers. These products should be taken to the nearest waste collection station. For a list of area stations, please visit www.co.delaware.pa.us/recycle/.
The Borough has obtained a Recycling Grant which went toward the purchase of new recycling containers. If your container was destroyed, please feel free to stop by the Borough Office for a new recycling container. Please remember that we recycle plastic bottles, glass, aluminum cans and rinsed metal food cans.
Medical Waste Disposal
Human and animal waste (medications used in the treatment of Cancer, Diabetes, etc.) including hypodermic needles must be disposed of in a proper manner. These items are not allowed in the regular trash pick-up.
Please contact either your family physician or veterinarian for specific directions on this disposal. Medical waste will create a hazardous condition with the trash truck load and we may not be able to unload our municipal waste.
